Welcome, one and all!

I feel like this isn't my first time making a first blog post . . .

. . . oh yeah, that's because this isn't my first blog! Okay, got my confidence back for this.

For those who are fans of my original blog, Wild-Eyed Muse, welcome! For those who are fans of the Naruto series, welcome! For those who like second-generation fanfiction, welcome!

. . . for those of you who fit none of the descriptors there . . . well, why don't you stay anyways???

My name is T.J. Janneff, and I'm a writer. I love writing novels, unique characters, and the occasional piece of fanfiction. I'm also a fan of the Naruto series, and as a result, I have a lot of fanfiction in my mind for it. After all, that's what seems to happen when you get an amateur writer and plop him/her in front of a good series - they start thinking of expanding upon it.

That's what's going on here.

In honor of Camp NaNoWriMo and the fact that I'm leaving for college in a month and a half, I've been writing a coming-of-age novella based in the Naruto world. This is not the normal storyline, however; lots of details have been changed. For instance:

A) Itachi Uchiha is alive. No, I don't mean Edo Tensei/Zombie-esque alive. I mean, he's actually alive and well. And, um, has two children.
B) Deidara is alive. Again, no Edo Tensei or zombie stuff. Actually. Alive. Instead of kids, though, he's screwing around with other things. We'll get to that later.
C) Madara Uchiha is alive. This is really really complicated, but to put it simply, he picked a dfferent way to survive his encounter with Hashirama Senju. I mean, he also made himself an ageless immortal by accident, but let's not talk about that quite yet.
D) Natasha Kameneva is ali- wait, you don't know her? She's one of my OCs - friend to Deidara and Madara and wife to Itachi Uchiha. She's the reason Itachi and Deidara are alive, although then again, she's also caused a lot of trouble for them, too. Whee.
E) The Fourth Shinobi War resulted in a captured Obito and no references to Rikudou or Kaguya. It's just simpler this way. (Actually, anything is simpler at this point. Naruto is getting complicated!)

So as is obvious, this isn't the regular AU, but more than that, this isn't even a story talking about the war - this takes place almost two decades later, where Itachi and Natasha have settled in the Land of Fields with their own children, trying to live life normally and not be burdened by the fact that, oh, they used to be criminals.

Too bad their daughter, Katya, isn't quite sitting well with this "normal life".

The novel tracks Katya's travels as she decides to leave her home behind and search for a new identity, one apart from her parents' names. She takes on both of her parents' last names, using them as a narrow form of protection in places of populace, and strives to make a name for herself so one day, she can just say "Katya" without needing to be known by her parents' crimes.

Of course, that's just the gist of it. It's a lot more complicated than that.

"But T.J.! What on EARTH are you doing here, then??"

This blog is my resting ground for all of the stuff I find along the way that I want to share about my process. From research to videos to snippets of my work, I'll be posting my progress throughout the month of July and into August. Not only that, but starting in August, I will be posting the chapters to my work in an effort to both edit my work and get it out into the public. This is also intended to be a project that will help prepare/distract me from the fact that I will be starting college soon, AKA, it's supposed to ground me. The hope is that this way, I can share my progress, show off my notes, publish some of my writing, and prepare myself for the times ahead.

So welcome, and kick back for a while! Things are about to get very cool around here, and you won't want to miss out!
